The Code Of Silence

The silence surrounding the state of being of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua is deafening.

Nobody seems to know exactly what is happening with/to him right now.

Well, they know but nobody wants to get the 'Baba Gana Kingibe' Treatment.

Remember the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the circumstance of his sack? He had announced the demise of his principal, only for the man to miraculously wake up a few hours later (after some serious prayers) and sack him - some say with the promptings of the First lady. Understandably.

So here we are again at the same pass. And yet again, we expect a miracle.

But this time, there is a code of silence in force. From the VP, to the Ministers, to the cleaners in Aso rock, the answer to every question is: Let us pray for the President to recover quickly.

Let us believe the best.

NIGERIAN CURIOSITY
IT WAS SO MUCH EASIER WHEN I ONLY HAD ONE...

he spoke to the BBC but who really knows his voice. Anyway that person sounds really sick and if so should hand over formally like a reasonable person to the VP.

Though even that VP and all them minsters and senators are not well at all sef. The latter say their hands are tied, so they keep quiet while we're led by ghosts. Which way Nigeria?

@SSD: I had actually gone to NC for a post on this issue but when I didn't see any, I decided to put one up. This matter has gone past 'be careful', we just need to know.
Many thanx for your comments

@Myne: It appears no one believes that BBC story; why not speak with FRCN and NTA?

In these days of Photoshop, Voice software and electronic wizadry, any Nollywood actor can play the part an mimic any voice. Of course, don't forget that UMYA still has a younger brother

The late Gbenga Adeboye did it successfully win the voice of the late MKO ABiola long after Abiola's death.

No be Naija again?

Silence, they honour by fear but, silence, we shan't give them this time around. We need to let them understand honoour is not dignified by silence.

your reply to Myne echoes my thots to a perfect Tee. why not show us a vid of our beloved president..
if he's able to talk at all, what ever happened to new year address the president usually makes..
and yes, why BBC?

abeg, if they thinl Nigerians were fooled by that then the joke is really on them..

first time heere and loving it

@Rethots: My thots exactly. If one mass rally could make them setup a 59-second 'interview' with the BBC, maybe if we continue with everyday, rallies and marches, they'll give us a full CD and maybe a full featured movie down the line.

Silence we must not give them.

Many thanx for your comments.

@histeasure: WHy not let us play along? Let us continue asking for more like an appreciative audience after a good performance. We need more than just a 59-second 'interview' with BBC, we need a full 30-minute soap opera with all the ingredients. LOL!

Many thanx for your comments.

Poor president.
I almost feel sorry for him.

The irony of Nigeria's history is that as sorry as the case of Y'ar Dua's regime might end up being, he very well might be our best president yet.

Maybe he is in a delicate condition or something. As far as i know, president or any leader of the nation that is ill is kept secret, avoiding media interrogation.
